Real DL’s & Real ID’s

A Real DL (Driver’s License) and Real ID (Identification Card) are federally compliant forms of identification. Starting May 7, 2025, standard licenses will no longer be accepted for air travel between states. While obtaining a Real DL or Real ID is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended for all Alaskan residents.

What are the requirements for obtaining one?

  • Birth certificate or unexpired passport

  • Two proofs of physical address (must match exactly)

  • Your current license or out-of-state license (if applying for a new issuance)

  • Marriage license, divorce certificate, or name change documents (if applicable)
